About Us
The Diabetes Support Forum is developed and maintained by the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA). CPhA is the national organization for pharmacists, advocating and supporting its members to advance the profession and enhance patient outcomes.
CPhA has created this online forum to be used by pharmacists who have participated in CPhA’s Diabetes Strategy for Pharmacists continuing education course; The ‘how-to’ of managing diabetes…A prescription for pharmacists. Our goal is to provide ongoing, relevant and timely support to pharmacists interested in increasing the level of care they can provide to their patients with diabetes and other related chronic conditions/diseases.
We hope that you will use this online community to share information and resources with your peers, discuss issues and challenges, and generally serve as a community of support. Please review our Guidelines for Use and Terms of Service before beginning to use the forum.
To assist you in navigating and taking part in this forum we have assembled a team of pharmacists who are all considered experts in the area of diabetes care and management. These are our author-moderators, who will be your guides in posting new research, practice information, news or tools for your attention and moderating the subsequent discussions. We encourage you to discuss the items posted by our author-moderators in the comments that belong to each post – or share new related information.
Have a diabetes related subject you want discussed, but don’t see a current post on the specific topic? You can either email your news directly to diabetesforum@pharmacists.ca to start a new post, or just add a comment to a current related discussion thread. While we would like the discussion threads to stay on topic as much as possible, we’re pretty flexible. And the author-moderator of the original post you add your comment to might start a new post on your topic if conversations start to become more in-depth.
Have a practice related question you want an answer to? We’ve set up a great space for you to ask your questions in an open and secure environment where you will be able to get answers quickly from colleagues and experts in the field of diabetes care and management. Under the Q&A tab you can post a question and an email with the question will automatically be sent to all members of the Diabetes Support Forum and our author-moderators. As your question(s) are answered an automatic email will be sent to you, all Diabetes Support Forum and our author-moderators informing you of the answer(s). In this way the Q&A tab is set up much like a list-serv to encourage and enable ease of discussion.
Finally, this is a work in progress. We’re not sure what direction your questions, answers and conversations might take. We do know that we want this forum to grow and adapt to best meet your needs, so feel free to email suggestions to diabetesforum@pharmacists.ca.
